In 2007 Stephanie was commissioned by West Sussex
Council and the Campaign for Drawing to devise Big
Draw activies for three heritage sites in West Sussex.
The sites were, Chichester Cathedral, Pagham Harbour
Nature Reserve and Southwater Country Park. Each site
had very different needs and resources available and
so the drawing activities which involved the general
public, a special needs school and a local primary
school respectively were very different from site to
site.
The Big Draw is an annual, international, event
devised to raise interest in drawing.

At Pagham a local special needs school came to spend the day collecting natural materials from the site and drawing in three-dimensional space totem pole creations which were then raised in a raising ritual.

At Chichester Cathedral members of the public of all ages and abilities were encouraged to look at the beautiful building with pencil and Big Draw sketchbook in hand, to record and document and then to return to areas of activity in the cloisters North Transept where images, paper and re-cycled materials were variously woven into individual and group works of art.

At Southwater in Horsham, two classes from a local primary school came on site to record their impressions of the country park through drawing what they saw in the form of symbols which were then transferred onto a large scale, aboriginal style, map for permanent display on the visitors centre wall. Their drawings, research and found objects also came together to form box art inspired by the work of the artist Joseph Cornell previously introduced to them by Stephanie on a visit to the school.
