The Regency Wardrobe

Aug 29th - Oct 26th 2021

see it live first at Firle Place

- Tickets will go on sale from April 2nd!

Stephanie worked as artist-in-residence at The Regency Town House, Hove from December 2018 until early March 2020 when the project was cut short by Coronavirus. In lockdown she has been putting the finishing touches to the collection she had been creating with the help of town house volunteers.

The Regency Wardrobe collection variously re-interprets the popular Regency art form of the paper cut silhouette and responds to research carried out into the fashion of that period held in private collections and museum stores - please click The Hidden Wardrobe in the menu above. The collection has the broadest scope of any she has worked on to-date, in terms of its relationship to local social history and a particular historical era.

The Regency Wardrobe collection is centred around 11 life-sized outfits, complemented with 12 accessories, 4 wall-hangings and a jewellery box. Each piece is accompanied by related research text and imagery but, in accordance with her practice, it also stands alone as a piece of intricate and intriguing decorative fine art. The exhibition will feature recordings of specially commissioned dance and ballad performances and projection.

The Regency Wardrobe is coming. Images of the collection will appear here during the exhibition but if you can please book to see it live.

Tickets will go on sale from April 2nd!
